Knowledge vs Awareness

What is the difference between knowledge versus awareness?

Table of Contents

Introduction

4Q Boundaries is a meditation system that focuses on awareness and self-realization rather than knowledge acquisition. We recognize that there is more going on around us than we could ever possibly realize and comprehend. So, instead of trying to become a “know it all,” we are looking at how we can become aware of when things are working and when they are not.

Knowledge versus Awareness

Knowledge is information that we acquire through our senses and through our experiences. Awareness is the ability to be aware of our thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations without judgment.

In 4Q Boundaries meditation, we focus on developing our awareness. We do this by paying attention to our body, our feelings, and our thoughts without judgment. As we develop our awareness, we become more sensitive to the subtle energies that are around us and within us.

Stagnation and Awareness

Stagnation is a lack of movement or progress. It can occur in any area of our lives, whether it is physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual. Stagnation can also occur in our relationships and in our work.

When we are meditating, we can become more aware of stagnation. We may notice that our breath is shallow, that our body is tense, that our emotions are spiking or suppressed, or that our thoughts are repetitive. When we become aware of stagnation, we can take action to remove it.

How to Use 4Q Boundaries Meditation to Increase Awareness

There are a few things that you can do to increase your awareness during 4Q Boundaries meditation as well as throughout your day:

  • Focus on your body. Your body is the only part of you that is always in the present moment. By noticing your body and how it feels, it’s telling you when your adrenals are fired up sending adrenaline throughout your body, when your blood pressure is too high or too low, when your thirsty or hungry. By noticing your body, you can become aware of how your emotional, mental, and spiritual parts of you influence the health of your physical body.
  • Notice your emotions. We live in a society that values thoughts over feelings, yet our emotions are the driving force behind our behavior. Instinct tells us to seek pleasure and avoid pain. So, where are we avoiding emotional discomfort? Where are we suppressing emotions to avoid pain, rather than releasing them to gain neutrality and clarity about what we are experiencing in the moment?
  • Observe your thoughts. Our thoughts are conditioned to follow certain patterns based on our relationships with family, friends, and social groups. It’s easy to follow these patterns without exploring our own thoughts and reflecting on whether we agree with them or not. A curious mind opens us up to exploring the nature of thoughts and how they influence us.
  • Explore your spirituality. Do you have a spiritual perspective? Do you follow those beliefs? How do those beliefs impact your thoughts, feelings, and body awareness?

Conclusion

4Q Boundaries meditation is a powerful tool for developing awareness and self-realization. By meditating daily, you can become more sensitive to the subtle energies that are around you and within you. This awareness can help you to identify and remove stagnation from your life.
